🌟 May is Mental Health Awareness Month! 🌈 As we enter into Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of prioritizing our mental well-being and supporting those around us. Did you know that 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences mental illness in any given year? Yet, despite its prevalence, mental health is often overlooked or stigmatized. It's time to change that narrative and shine a light on mental health issues to promote understanding, acceptance, and access to care for all. Here are a few tips to help support your mental health: Practice self-care: Make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation, whether it's going for a walk, practicing mindfulness, or enjoying a hobby.Reach out for support: Don't hesitate to lean on friends, family, or mental health professionals when you need support. You are not alone, and there are people who care about you and want to help.Break the stigma: Challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about mental illness by starting open and honest conversations. Let's create a culture of compassion and understanding where everyone feels comfortable seeking help when needed. As your Commissioner, I am committed to advocating for mental health awareness and supporting initiatives that promote mental well-being in our community. Together, let's work towards a future where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. Remember, it's okay not to be okay, and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let's make Mental Health Awareness Month a time for ed#bettertogetherdekalb a#mentalhealthawarenessmonthD#BreakTheStigmae#commissionermichellelongspearsg#dekalbcountyd2r#district2n#youarenotalonecountyD2 #District2 #YouAreNotAlone 🌟🧠💚 See MoreSee Less
